Ford Cortina Mk2 1600E Series 2 - Fully Restored. PLEASE NO TIME WATERS SERIOUS BUYERS ONLY. For sale is my Mk2 Cortina 1600E, a project I've owned and rebuilt over the past 7 years.

I bought the car in boxes - it was far from what you see now. I completely stripped and rebuilt it myself, with the intention of creating a period fast Ford of the day. 1660cc Crossflow from a Ford 711M block. Twin 40 Dellorto carbs (fully rebuilt by Hangar 111 in Ipswich including rolling road set-up). Harris Performance 4-into-1 manifold into full Retro Ford stainless exhaust.

Facet Gold fuel pump and King filter setup. 120bhp at the wheels see dyno sheet. Diff fully rebuilt by Road Race Transmissions with new crown and pinion wheels.

GAZ adjustable shocks (front inserts and rear). 2" lowering springs on the front, 1" lowering blocks on the rear. Wood door caps re-veneered and lacquered by a boat restoration specialist. Genuine Mota-lita steering wheel (original steering wheel included).

Seats re-trimmed using Aldridge Trimming covers. Aldridge trimming carpet kit and under-dash panels. Aldridge trimming bulk head/ under dash sound panels. All door and window seals replaced (sourced from Australia). New headlining from East Kent Trimmers, specified in black for a subtle custom touch.

Battery relocate to the boot. Fully dyno-matt floor and doors for a quieter sound. JBW Lotus-style 7 wide wheels all round (including spare). Extended spare clamp to secure full-size spare in the boot as the original would have been.

A large bundle of original parts comes with the sale, including. Original matching-numbers engine (never run, but regularly turned over). Spare engine which is stripped. Lamps and many more various additional parts. Please note: You'll need a van or large estate to collect all the extras.

Fuel gauge has never worked correctly, even with a new sender (from Mk2 Cortina Owners Club). Rev counter works intermittently and is inaccurate when it does.

This is a genuine 3-owner car from new. He intended to restore it but found it too much to take on.

I've been the one to get it back on the road, making me effectively the second road-using owner. The original body shell was beyond saving and had already been scrapped.

The gentleman I bought the car from sourced a genuine French 1600E shell from the south of France. This explains the opening quarter windows - a feature only found on export models. The shell was shot-blasted, repaired, and repainted in Silver Fox, a period-correct colour (originally Amber Gold).

I have paperwork and tags from the French donor shell, along with old French documents and newspaper clippings, which will come with the car to support it's history. This is a proper head-turner that's had lots of attention, even displayed by Classic Ford on their stand and entered into their'Best of 50' in 2022 (see final photo of the car).
